Candelabrum
The elegant sixteen-branch candelabrum
Suspended above the altar, is the elegant sixteen-branch candelabrum; the fourth oldest of its type in Britain, it was made in the Netherlands and was given to the church by Robert Elfreth in 1676. -
Pitman Memorial
Memorial to the Pitman Family
On the east wall of the south aisle is the splendid memorial to Jeffrey Pitman (tanner, haberdasher, churchwarden and High Sheriff of Suffolk.) Beneath Pitman’s statue are his two wives, and kneeling beneath them are the two lawyer sons who pre-deceased him. -
Bread Cupboard
John Sayer's 17th century bread cupboard
Situated inside the north porch is a 17th century bread cupboard, generously bequeathed in 1635 by John Sayer, with compartments to contain loaves given to the poor each Sunday. -
The Epiphany
Wall painting by Rupert Corbould
This painting, which is on permanent loan from the Friends of Friendless Churches, was originally stuck to the wall of St. George's Church, Perry Hill, Catford, South London. It was saved by LASSCO before the church was demolished in 1999 and brought to St. Mary's in 2010 where it is on display in the Vestry Chapel. -
Seckford Tomb
The tomb of Thomas Seckford
Thomas Seckford was Woodbridge’s most important benefactor, providing almshouses and the Shire Hall for the town. Seckford was a Tudor statesman and in 1550, 1563 and 1572 was elected to Parliament by the burgesses of Ipswich. Seckford’s tomb was restored in 1875 and beneath it lies a mediaeval burial slab. -
Rood Screen
Panels from 15th century Rood Screen
Along the walls at the west end of the south aisle are the surviving mediaeval panels of the rood screen, commissioned in the 1440s and 1450s. 14 panels from the original 34 depicting the figures of saints remain, and although they were badly mutilated by the Puritans, each is a precious ‘Old Master’ worthy of inspection. -

On the south wall, near the tower arch is the colourful three-panelled Deben Millennium Frieze. It shows the history of the town in beautiful embroidery created by local people in 2000, to the designs of Michael Coulter and Linda Wilde. -
